Engineered Wood
Engineered wood has become increasingly popular over the last 10 years, to a point now where it is now more used than solid wood. This is not only due to the ecological benfit of using less wood, but also due to the manufacuring process which makes it stronger.
Engineered wood flooring's major selling point however, is that it does not become effective by relative humidity like solid wood does. The cross weaving of the structure creates a floorboard that won't expand/shrink anywhere near as much as its counterpart. This makes engineered wood flooring especially appealing in rooms with moisture problems or areas with higher humidity readings.
