Engineered Flooring

Engineered wood flooring has become the most popular choice for new wood flooring. It can be mistaken for laminate flooring but engineered wood flooring has a top layer of real solid wood. This layer is typically between 3/6mm which has a long life span and can be sanded 2-4 times in it's life. The solid wood venner sits on a base that is usually made up of multi-layer ply, 3 core ply or HDF. Due to the make up of the boards, engineered wood flooring has great strength and stability but most importantly are more stable than solid wood when exposed to changes in humidity and temperature.

GENUINE WOOD, LONG TERM INVESTMENT

Engineered wood flooring is hands-down the easiest way to get all of the warm and character of solid wood, without the possible future side effects. It is manfactured in such a way that it is almost impossible that it will swell or shrink when the temperature/humidity changes. This added durability sets it apart and dramatically increases its stability. The end result is a genuine wood floor that feels as good as it looks and will last a lifetime.

Here are some of the reasons you should consider engineered flooring for your home:

  • A long-term investment that you can count on for years to fill your home with warmth and character.
  • Low maintenance, easy to clean and a good substitute for carpet, especially for those with allergies.
  • Can be directly laid over most substrates with no inconvenience.
  • Uses less wood than solid-wood flooring so you’ll be doing the planet a favour as well!

The installation process for engineered flooring can be a complex procedure but you’re in safe hands. The floor can be floated but our two most popular options are glued and secret nailing. Whatever the outcome, all three of these options are durable and look great.
